International Builders Show 2016 - JRH Does Las Vegas

This year team JRH spent a week in Las Vegas learning the latest in the building world. We took advantage of all the lectures and exhibits. JRH stays on top of the newest and the latest by attending events such as IBS and other local Dallas events. Providing our clients with the best is one of our main goals! By attending we make sure to bring back all that we have learned! Besides having a lot of fun, we have lots of new information to share!

JRH's Construction Experience

Here's a great photo of team JRH from last weekend's Construction Experience. We helped these kiddos from Bradfield Elementary learn how to build their own lemonade stands. Materials and labor were donated by JRH and the event was purchased by Alex and Karla Trusler.

JRH Design+Build wins 2 CotY 2016 Awards

We did it again! We won two CotY awards for the 2016 Greater Dallas Chapter! We are very proud and couldn't have done this without our wonderful team! Next year - here we come!

JRH Wins Two 2015 Contractor of the Year Awards

On November 11,2014, sixteen local remodeling companies were named local winners in the 2015 NARI Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award competition.  JR Hammel Construction was winner of two Contractor of the Year Awards (CotY) as awarded by the National Association of Remodeling (NARI) Greater Dallas.  The projects submitted for judging were an improvement or an addition to an existing structure.  Judging for the local awards was done by an impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant’s “before and after” photography and project description.  Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

JR Hammel Construction won a CotY Award in 2014 and is very proud of this recognition again for 2015.

JR Hammel Construction won local CotY Awards for:

  • Entire House Renovation – $500K – $750K
  • Entire House Renovation – $750K – $1,000,000

Top Dog Award from the SPCA

It’s official, we are the TOP DOG! Out of all the doghouses built and displayed at NorthPark Center’s annual Home for the Holidays event, our Barkbury Cottage raised the most money for the SPCA.

TOP DOG from the SPCA

Each year NorthPark Center partners with NARI, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, to raise money for the SPCA of Texas. Remodeling companies, like us, donate their time and materials to design and build custom dog houses. The doghouses are put on display at NorthPark Center during the Christmas shopping season so that patrons can view them. People are also given the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win their favorite doghouse. We are proud to say that our doghouse had the most raffle tickets purchased for it, so the SPCA was kind enough to present us with a trophy.

Barkbury Cottage

Barkbury Cottage

“The Barkbury Cottage was designed and built for the discriminating dog whose taste demands classic styling along with time tested materials.  This small Tudor hearkens back to a simpler age; the patina of the reclaimed clapboards pairing perfectly with the swooping roof and exposed timber trusses.  Any astute pup will be the envy of the neighborhood calling the Barkbury home.”

Cody designed the doghouse, Lisa & James coordinated everything, and many of our trade partners pitched-in to build it. We also built a second doghouse that was auctioned off at a local school to raise money for education. At JRH our community is important to us! Thanks to all who worked on our custom doghouses, to everyone who bid on it, and to NARI of Dallas & NorthPark Center for sponsoring this great event.

Hearts & Hammers

Hearts & Hammers in Dallas is a wonderful organization that utilizes construction companies and volunteers to help people repair their home who are otherwise unable to do so. We assembled our crews (and family members) and spent a few Saturdays in South Dallas making a pink home safe & comfortable for it’s sweet homeowner. We did a great deal of cleaning up and we even tore down an old storage building that was very dangerous for the children in the neighborhood. We repaired all of the rotten wood siding, scraped the peeling paint, and put on a couple of fresh coats – pink of course. It was a long and hot couple of days, but we were so glad to be in our community helping people. We hope you’ll join us next time so you can experience the joy of making a difference in the lives of those around you.

Here are a few pictures from our Hearts & Hammers Day… we should have taken more, but we were very busy!

A Tudor Restoration

This spectacular and historic 1927 Herbert Marcus built estate needed some TLC. Although thought to be restored to its original Tudor grandeur a couple decades back, you can tell by the pictures that numerous areas were left untouched dating back to the 60’s or earlier. Take a look at a few of the Before Pictures. . . .

This home sits atop 2.15 acres of lushly landscaped grounds with a saltwater pool, pond and cabana. Purchased in early 2013 by a couple returning to Dallas, JRH was hired in July of 2013 to renovate all 6310 sf this truly historic and one-of-a-kind home. Under the guidance of Award-Winning Designer Marci Barnes, the entire home is currently being renovated to the specifications desired to match its original Tudor charm. Rift and quartered hardwood flooring, arched doorways and brand-new kitchen and baths are being built to cohesively integrate with the existing tudor design. When finished, this historic estate will continue it’s dominance as the dream retreat in the heart of Lakewood!

We will share progress pictures soon!
